About the artists

Débora Bolsoni (Rio de Janeiro, 1975) has a master in Visual Poetics from School of Communications and Arts – USP (2014). Studied at EAV Parque Lage in Rio de Janeiro (1991 to 1993) and at Saint Martin School of Art in London (1993). Teaches Contemporary Artistic Practices at Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado since 2018. Works mainly with installation, sculpture and drawing. Her practice, full of conceptual and material dislocations, can be compared to the children’s game known as the “statue” in which players must stop in position and try to advance at the same time until they reach the target. Among her recent solo shows are “O inferno de boazinha”- Galeria Superfície (São Paulo, 2018); “Coffee and Alphabets” Galeria Bendana-pinel (Paris, 2018); “No Name, But Names” (Drawing Lab, Paris, 2017); “Descaracter” at Jaqueline Martins Gallery (São Paulo, 2016); “General Urbanism” at the Contemporary Athena Gallery (Rio de Janeiro, 2015). and the collective exhibitions “New Acquisitions” at the Pinacoteca de São Paulo (São Paulo, 2019); “The spear spike to point to nail the drip to drop the end of the tale” Ellen from Bruijne Projects Gallery (Amsterdam, 2016); “Condor Project” – The Sunday Painter Gallery (London, 2015); “Southern Panoramas – 19th SESC_Videobrasil” – SESC Pompeii (São Paulo, 2015).

Matheus Rocha Pitta (Tiradentes, 1980) studied History at the UFF, Philosophy at UERJ (both in Rio de Janeiro) and works with photography, sculpture, video and installations. Rocha Pitta was the recipient of the Illy Sustain Art Prize, Madrid (2008). He participated in the 9th Taipei Biennial (2014) and the 29th São Paulo Biennial (2010). His work is part of important public collections such as the Museum of Modern Art, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the Castello di Rivoli, Turin, Italy. Recent solo exhibitions include Künstleraus Bethanien, Berlin (2017); Gluck 50, Milan (2015); Fondazione Morra Greco, Naples (2013); Pivô, San Paolo (2013); and Centro Cultural Banco do Brazil, Rio de Janeiro (2010). He participated in the 9th Taipei Biennial (2014) and 29th Bienal de São Paulo (2010) and was included in group exhibitions at Museu de Arte do Rio, Rio de Janeiro (2016); Matadero Madrid (2014); Museu de Arte Moderna, San Paolo (2014); Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2013); Krannert Art Museum, Illinois, USA (2013); Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo, Brazil (2011); and Institute d’Arte Contemporain, Lyon, France (2011).

G. T. Pellizzi (Tlayacapan, Mexico, 1978) studied at St. Johns College, Santa Fe, and the Chanin School of Architecture of Cooper Union. He has been involved with various artist collectives and co-founded the Bruce High Quality Foundation in 2001. In 2016, Pelizzi was awarded the Inga Maren Otto Fellowship. Pellizzi’s background in philosophy and architecture translates directly into his work. His use of temporary structures and light installations recalls the ubiquitous nature of construction sites in urban settings and explores the developments that they signify – not simply the physical progression of building, but also the embedded concepts of obstruction, displacement, power, and profit. The artist has shown at the Jeu de Paume, Paris; Museo del Barrio Biennial, New York; the Biennial of the Americas, Denver; Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; MoMA PS1, Long Island City; and Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris. His works can be found in numerous public and private collections such as The Watermill Center, Water Mill, New York; Mana Contemporary, Jersey City; and the Museo Del Barrio, New York.
