The Canadian artist Al Freeman present for the first time in Brazil a set of four works from her series “Soft Sculptures”, depicting everyday objects in large soft sculptures made of synthetic leather. Occupying the Project Room, the exhibition “More Pillows” incorporates the humor characteristic of the artist’s production, establishing a connection between the artistic production and mass culture, between points of reference of the so-called “high” and “low” culture. The selection of objects – including a Swiss Army Knife and a gold pen – exaggerates items typically associated with domestic male environments and, in some way, the tradition of Pop with an aspect closely related to Oldenburg. The sculptures drain the virility of their objects, replacing rigid geometries with flaccid shapes.

This exhibition is organized in collaboration with 56 Henry (NY).
